Annie Tsoi

Ms. Annie Tsoi specializes in intellectual property, focusing on brand protection and enforcement in Hong Kong and Mainland China. She has extensive experience in trademark and copyright matters, including representing multinational companies in infringement actions, advising on brand protection strategies, and assisting in trademark and domain acquisitions for international clothing brands.

VICE-CHAIRPERSON

Janet Wong

Ms. Janet Wong is a highly experienced legal professional specializing in commercial litigation, financial fraud, intellectual property, and corporate transactions. As the head of Dorsey’s Hong Kong office and Greater China IP group, she offers comprehensive legal solutions to local and multinational clients. With over 20 years of expertise, Janet excels in high-stakes disputes, regulatory defense, and formulating global IP strategies, ensuring robust support for complex commercial issues and IP-related transactions.

SECRETARY

James Choi

Mr. James Choi is an IP specialist with extensive experience in handling IP litigations, contentious, enforcement and advisory matters in Hong Kong and Mainland China. He served world famous luxury brands, dual listed PRC tech giant, leading crypto currency corporation, a HK unicorn, MNCs, Fortune 500 companies, and Hong Kong listed companies.

James is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong as well as a lawyer in the Greater Bay Area (China).

TREASURER

Theresa Luk

Ms. Theresa Luk is an IP Partner at Deacons. She is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong and has a Hon.B.Sc. degree in Life Sciences from the University of Toronto. Theresa has extensive experience working with many top universities, government funded R&D institutes, multinational entertainment companies and advertisement agencies on various commercial IP matters including franchising, licensing, assignments, distribution, collaboration, and technology transfer.  She is also very experienced in the areas of IP protection and enforcement, data privacy, product liability and consumer protection.

COUNCIL MEMBERS

Noletta Chiu

Ms. Noletta Chiu graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production (Dean’s List) and began her career as a production assistant at TVB as a junior producer in Film Vision responsible for securing distribution rights for films. After this role, she entered the licensing industry, where she has worked for over 28 years.

Noletta is currently the Executive Director of Medialink Group Limited since 2018 where she provides strategic advice, managing licensing for well-known brands such as The Little Prince, Sesame Street, Garfield, Popeye, and Emoji, along with popular Japanese brands like Jujutsu Kaisen and Gundam.

Charmaine Koo

Ms. Charmaine Koo is Head of IP Commercial and Litigation, and former Co-head of Deacons’ IP Department (2015-2023). She is also a former President of The Licensing Executives, China – Hong Kong sub-chapter (2017-2019). Her wide-ranging practice covers all aspects of IP work from complex IP litigation, commercial transactions, IT and online business issues, to advertising, local law compliance and regulatory issues, to anti-counterfeiting strategies and enforcement of IP rights. She also has extensive experience in entertainment law and includes advising various global tech giants, leading film and music companies, multinational conglomerates and international marketing and media companies in relation to different aspects of licensing and commercial IP matters.

Stella Law

Ms. Stella Law is the Regional Executive Director of CHFT Advisory & Appraisal Ltd, headquartered in Hong Kong, and she specializes in intellectual property advisory and valuation.  She covers all phases of M&A activities and serves as a valuation expert in litigation.  Over the past 20 years, Stella built a strong reputation for providing expert insights across diverse industries in the Asia Pacific Region.  Prior founding CHFT, Stella led valuation departments in an S&P 500 company and a Top-10 audit firm and has received multiple awards for her achievements in the field.

Anita Leung

Ms. Anita Leung is a legal practitioner with over 25 years of experience in intellectual property and information technology, advising local and multinational companies. She specializes in brand integrity, IP audits, and data privacy. Previously a partner at Jones Day and Baker & McKenzie, she holds various leadership roles in industry committees and is appointed to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel.

Anita is a solicitor with David Lo & Partners and an accredited mediator.  She has been a legal practitioner for more than 30 years, advising both local and multinational companies on the full spectrum of both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property and information technology work.   Amongst many other pro bono and community services, Anita is an ex-President of LESCHK and serves as the Vice Chair, Intellectual Property Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong and a member of the BIP Asia Forum Steering Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Rosita Li

Ms. Rosita Li has nearly 30 years of experience in intellectual property, entertainment, and information technology in Hong Kong and Mainland China. A former IP Partner at Mayer Brown, she advises clients on trademark portfolios, litigation, and licensing. An active author and speaker, Rosita has presented on various IP topics and received multiple accolades for her expertise in the field.

Rosita has over 32 years of experience in dealing with both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property, entertainment, and information technology issues in Hong Kong and the Mainland China, handling the full spectrum of intellectual property work from enforcement, litigation to licensing and portfolio management.  Rosita is a former IP Partner of Mayer Brown (formerly known as Johnson Stokes & Master, then JSM, then Mayer Brown JSM) and she has advised global conglomerates and Hong Kong blue-chip clients on their global trademark portfolio and enforcement portfolio in APAC, spreading across different industry sectors such as financial services, real estate, retail, hospitality as well as luxury and fashion. She also has solid experience and excellent track records in IP litigation (including handling interlocutory injunctions and Anton Piller orders, Hong Kong Customs seizures, domain name complaints, shadow company name disputes), and assists clients in drafting and negotiating licence and franchise agreements and conducting IP audit and IP related due diligence.

Michael Lin

Mr. Michael Lin is a US patent attorney living in Asia for ~30 years with extensive IP, business, and licensing experience worldwide.  He advises startups, SMEs and entrepreneurs in a variety of capacities to build their businesses in a strategic manner and enhance their value.  Michael is involved with many HK and international NGOs and companies. 

Rebecca Lo

Ms. Rebecca Lo has extensive experience in intellectual property, specializing in IP filing, prosecution, portfolio management, and enforcement, including litigation and administrative actions. She advises on a wide range of commercial contracts, online business issues, and agreements for film production and technology transfer. Additionally, Rebecca drafts and negotiates agreements for a financial information portal and resolves disputes through litigation, arbitration, and mediation.

David Swain

Mr. David Swain is General Counsel and Vice President at Essex Bio-Technology, with a background in biochemistry and law. He trained at Simmons & Simmons before joining Deacons and later Lewis Silkin as Head of Intellectual Property (Asia-Pacific). He has received multiple accolades, including recognition from IAM Strategy 300 and Chambers and Partners, for his expertise in IP.

Sven Torringer

Mr. Sven Torringer is an experienced IP and legal professional with a record of successfully managing complex legal issues in IP, licensing and M&A transactions across the globe. His expertise includes managing licensing, patent divestitures and acquisitions, and strategic opinion and counselling work. He is particularly appreciated for his ability to build bridges with other IP leaders to create significant long-term value for all parties.

Henry Wheare

Mr. Henry Wheare specializes in intellectual property dispute resolution, focusing on patents, trademarks, copyright, and designs, with a strong emphasis on cross-border solutions and alternative dispute resolution. He has extensive experience in negotiating transactional IP matters, including licenses and technology transfers. Additionally, he advises on competition law, particularly regarding anti-competitive conduct and compliance in relation to intellectual property.
